Aegean Seagull Virtual Airline System commences operations

ATHENS, Greece (VANF) - A new virtual airline will be joining the ranks of the growing number of European based airlines, as the Aegean Seagull Virtual Airline System announced its commencement of operations from Athens today.

According to company executives however, the new Greek virtual airline will not operate along the standard parameters of most virtual airlines. For instance, all flight activity within the airline will take place online, although information regarding how those flights will be conducted has not been released to the public.

Additionally, only 20 pilots will be allowed on the airline's roster at a time. In order to attain a spot on that roster, a pilot will have to pass a test with a score above 80%. Company executives justified the test stating "This way he/she will prove that his/her aeronautical knowledge is far above average so there will be no checkride for the rest of his/her career."

Although flights in the virtual airline system will be conducted within the borders of Greece, special fly-ins will be arranged to other countries on the continent.

VATSIM and the IVAO will be utilized by the Aegean Seagull Virtual Airline System for those fly-ins.

Three major hubs are currently planned for the virtual airline system at the moment, while five other minor hubs will be operated as well. Also, a cargo, and island hopping service are on the drawing board for future release.
